What makes your journey at Woodlands a special one?
Woodlands Day Nursery is a wonderful setting that distinguishes itself as a place where children are not only cared for but are genuinely inspired to grow, learn, and thrive.
Our nursery is supported by a committed team of early years professionals who blend extensive experience and qualifications with a heartfelt passion for child development. Among our talented staff is
Lauren, our award-winning nursery SENDCO, who leads the team and is instrumental in ensuring that every child with special educational needs and disabilities receives top-notch support and
intervention. Our dedication to inclusivity ensures that every child has the chance to flourish.
At Woodlands, we implement a rich, child-centred curriculum that is grounded in the Early Years Foundation Stage but extends far beyond its traditional delivery. We encourage children to explore,
investigate, ask questions, and take ownership of their development. Core learning areas are seamlessly woven into meaningful, child-led play experiences that foster high levels of engagement and
motivation.
In addition to our stimulating indoor environment, we are fortunate to have an expansive outdoor area. Our garden is not merely an extension of the indoor classrooms; it serves as a fully integrated
learning environment where children can roam, discover, and grow. The garden is brimming with opportunities—from tending to our allotment and learning about sustainability to creating delicious treats
in the mud kitchen and providing homes for minibeasts in our bug hotel. Children engage in hands-on learning that nurtures respect for the environment and sparks a sense of wonder.
We also offer a weekly forest school program in a nearby woodland area, led by trained forest school practitioners. These sessions empower children to take controlled risks, build dens, learn fire
safety, and use simple tools safely, all while fostering confidence and resilience in a natural environment that feels both adventurous and calming.
Our talented in-house chef, prepares fresh, nutritious meals daily using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Menus are carefully designed in accordance with national dietary guidelines and are
regularly reviewed by a nutritionist to meet the needs of our growing children. From thoughtfully curated menus to hands-on food learning experiences, we strive to cultivate a positive relationship with
food, helping children understand its origins and enjoy a diverse array of flavours and textures.
Community trips are a vital part of the Woodlands experience. Whether visiting our local library, taking nature walks in the park, participating in litter picking activities, or engaging with our local care
home through our intergenerational program, we take pride in providing enriching community experiences that give children a sense of belonging in the wider world.
